Pianiste de stature internationale, Célimène Daudet – née d’un père français et d’une mère haïtienne – porte en elle deux cultures intimement liées. « Je suis française mais une partie de moi est haïtienne », déclarait-elle à Libération en 2018. Elle a rendu un très bel hommage à l’île maternelle avec l’album Haïti mon amour (2021), dans lequel elle interprète superbement des pièces pour piano de trois grands compositeurs haïtiens – Justin Élie, Ludovic Lamothe et Edmond Saintonge – véhiculant un intense métissage musical. Entrecoupé de poèmes (René Depestre, Louis-Philippe Dalembert), un florilège de leurs pièces entre ici en résonance avec des images du photo-reporter Corentin Fohlen. L’ensemble offre un portrait d’Haïti aussi original que fervent.
